Layout: Seurasaari

Here’s a 2-pager I just finished. This is for my own contest as well as Tracy’s challenge to do something with ribbon that you’ve never done before. I’ve never done this with ribbon.

I used a square punch to cut out the smaller pictures. I then used the leftovers from those squares and cut out the title with my Wizard and a set of Sizzlets (Playground font). I might straighten that title up, but I’m not really worried about it. 🙂

Scrap more than me and win a RAK!

I’m hosting a contest at Scrap Haven this weekend. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve done any real scrapbooking. I always seem to get a lot done during contests and challenges, so I thought I’d post my own. I started with an initial RAK and will add to it every time I complete a layout. Whatever I drag out to use, I’m going to share it! Here’s my first layout.

Suomenlinna 2005

I added some of the chipboard flowers, a small amount of ribbon and some dewdrops (in the center of the flowers) to the kitty. Come play!

Before the rain

It’s pouring down rain now, but this morning was sunny and beautiful. I decided to try my hand at artistic photography.

Going home

We were scheduled to leave Dallas at 1:30 pm on Monday, but were delayed for 2 hours due to the rain. I was lucky that Reino was in a photogenic mood. Here he is telling Isi that he’s on his way home.

And we are finally on our way. Fortunately, we had 4 hours between our scheduled arrival from Dallas and our departure for Frankfurt. I love flying with Reino. All of these photos were taken with the camera on my phone. I have other (camera) photos of him studying the safety cards. Every flight, every time. He has to go over the safety card. He askes me about each feature that he doesn’t recognize and then covers the whole thing with me. Every flight, every time.

And once we arrived in Chicago, of course there was another delay. Our aircraft had a problem so they were switching it out. Because Reino is such a picky eater and we were hungry, we had a pizza from Wolfgang Puck Express. Quite possibly the best pizza I’ve ever had. Okay, not the best but one of the top 5. Perfect crust, pesto, four cheeses and tomatoes. Yum!

Long story short, we had a long layover in Frankfurt. We had 8 hours between flights so I booked a hotel room and we went to have a nap. I set Reino up with a laptop and he watched movies and played games while I slept. I vaguely remember him asking if I would like for him to take a nap with me. I woke up and he was beside me. I realize that it wasn’t doing anything for our jetlag, but I knew there was no way I could stay awake for 30 hours and keep track of my kid and our stuff in an airport.

On the shuttle ride back to the airport, the driver had to stop for gas. I took a few pictures in the scenic town of Langen, somewhere near Frankfurt. I think this was a used car dealership.

And finally at the airport. We spent a few minutes riding this motorcycle before finding a McDonald’s with a fantastic space capsule. But this is enough pictures for now. The jetlag is bad, so I’m going to try to get him to sleep now.

New glasses :(

I had been thinking about getting new glasses while in Texas because they are so much less expensive. Thinking about, hadn’t decided. Until yesterday when I asked Reino to bring me my glasses case and he had to check if the glasses were inside. Yep. WERE. Have you ever heard your glasses shatter? Well, $330 and 24 hours later et voila!

Flip flop, flip flop

No, I don’t boycott my blog in the summer! I’ve been busy, busy, busy here in Texas. We arrived in Texas on 21 May. On the 23rd, Reino and I flew with my mom to visit my sister in Virginia. We drove with Brenda to Pennsylvania to visit my aunts and cousins. On the way there, we stopped in West Virginia to meet Leslie! We had a great time meeting her and Elizabeth.

While in Virginia, my niece Stephanie and I made a flip flop album. This was the first attempt for both of us and while we did have some difficult moments, we are both pleased with the results. I’m definitely going to make more of these.

The back of the closed album. We put the ribbon on it to tie it closed because this is a prototype :). We will do some things differently in later albums, but this one needed a little more support to keep it together.

These are the pages I made. The two green polka dot ones are for pictures.

On the Wrong Road Again

I’ve been planning this for almost a year. I went on a road trip with my sister last summer and we made several U-turns between her home and our destination. I don’t think she reads my blog. If you know her, don’t tell her what I made for her. Yes, I handcut the title.

I have to put my scrapping supplies away now. I have a lot to do to get ready for Monday.

Busy day

I only slept 4 hours last night, so I’m just going to ramble and spill it all.

I finally downloaded the pictures I took on Monday. I had this little gem on there. It’s Reino with the Big and Liittle Knuff brothers eating “old fish.” That’s the Knuff name, not what Reino calls them. But it was cute and I had to document it.

This morning I altered another frame. This one was for Raili, Reino’s sitter. She is retiring while we are gone and this was Reino’s last day with her. I had printed multiple copies of a nice picture I took in December and I used that in the frame.

And then I got into Tracy’s challenge. I did this nice little layout with the BG Lily Kate kit. I like it! I showed it to Jouni and he didn’t think it was finished. I told him that I had used a sketch and didn’t feel like trying to put anything else on it.

Dreamer

I need to do a few more layouts for that challenge today. And I still have that Pooh book to alter. So much to do!

Sidetracked

I was looking for some pictures to put in the altered Pooh book (which I haven’t started) and found this picture of Reino and sil at their first meeting. I’ve already got this picture in Reino’s scrapbook so I thought I should alter a frame and make a gift for sil. I’ve never altered a frame before and I kept it simple.

While trying to decide on a theme for the Pooh book, I found a package of papers that I hadn’t opened yet! Rachel brought them to me in February. I think I ordered them from 2peas, but I’m not sure.
