What If…

I was thinking about the things I wish I had done last year. “If I’d only…” or “I should have…” So then I started thinking about this year. What if this year I stick to the Spark Diet? If I’d only stuck to the plan last year, I would be 50 pounds lighter. What if this year I live up to my full potential? Scary, isn’t it? I decided that instead of asking myself “What if I’d done this?” I could just change that around and make it a year of finding out what happens when I do those things. What if I don’t make excuses? What if I walk 30 minutes a day? What if I don’t drink so much Pepsi? What if I actually learn to program in Java? What if I go after that job that I really want? See where I’m going? Rather than hide from the big question, I put it right on my journal. What if…

Salo Family Christmas 2007 – album

I made this album from the Scenic Route Roxbury collection. I used a Rusty Pickle chipboard album as the base and painted the edges white and gold then used some Stickles to give it sparkle.

The front cover features me (according to Reino). The paper title is from a page of die-cuts. The zigzag circle is what was left after I punched the die-cut out of the paper. I cut it out and used it. Can’t let anything go to waste!

Merry Christmas!

I had a very busy semester but now it’s over. I managed to make 20-something stockings for Christmas cards, but I had to rush to do it. I’m planning for next year already and I think I’ll get started on the concept some time in the Spring. I love Christmas and could work on Christmas projects all year. How about you?

Skräppikulma!

I was reading about the Helsinki Arts & Crafts Fair that will take place later this month. I was looking for some of the vendors I know who sell scrapbook supplies. I saw one there and then I noticed Skräppikulma. I had never heard of it, but I found the website and I was impressed! They have all of the brands I love. And the prices are very reasonable. Check them out here: Skräppikulma.

Christmas!

We had a Christmas card swap at Scrap Haven and I’ve finally finished mine. I’m four days late and I am truly sorry about that. Want to see them? I knew you would. I’m sorry these are fuzzy. I took the pictures with my phone camera.

Multislacking

I’ve been so busy with school and other projects that I haven’t had time to write anything here. I also haven’t gotten to finish my blanket. I hope to do that and a few other things worth posting this week. Don’t give up on me!

More blanket news

I spent about half an hour there today and got a few inches done. I’m getting better and faster at it. Here’s a view from the top.

And a view from beneath the loom. I have about 99cm. completed. That’s about 3 feet.

I’d like to sneak in there tomorrow and do some more work, but I’m not sure I’m allowed to on Sunday. I think I want to make it about 200cm, but might stop at about 175.

Ask me what I did today!

My friend Lori made a blanket for our friend Maralyn who moved back to the US. I wanted to make a blanket, too, so I joined Lori today and learned how.

We hung the yarn up so we could spin it into these little ball things. This was a tough technique, but I had mastered it by the time I left.

Time for my lesson! Ritva showed me what to do.

It’s starting to look like something!

I got quite a bit done but I forgot to take a picture before I left. I’m going back tomorrow after school. I hope to finish it this weekend and have it fluffed next week.
